Q: I forgot my username, what can I do?
Generally your username is SVC and the last five of your Student ID, ex: SVC12345. For older accounts it is your last name and the last five digits of your Student ID, ex: smith12345. If you already have a SVMC Enterprise account, then that is your portal username also.
Q: What should I do if I've forgotten my password?
Call the Service Desk at 203.576-5053 and they will reset your password. You will need to provide the last four digits of your social security number and your birth month and day. If the Service Desk is not able to help you please contact the IT Department at 203.576.5954 or email ITdept@stvincentscollege.edu. For security reasons we cannot give out your password over the phone, but we will reset your password and email it to you.
Q: I am trying to change my password, but it is not accepting it?
When creating a new password please keep the following requirements in mind:
* Passwords must be 8 characters or greater
* Passwords must contain 3 of the following 4 character types:
i)Uppercase characters (A - Z)
ii)Lowercase characters (a - z)
iii)Numbers (0 - 9)
iv)Special characters (#, %, @ and so on)
* New passwords cannot repeat any of the previous 6 passwords
* Passwords cannot contain "admin" or "administrator" or part of your name
* Passwords must be changed every 90 days

Q: Why do I receive a message about secure and non-secure items when I use my.stvincentscollege Portal?
Basically you just click to acknowledge the message. Some of our portlets pull in information from external sites (weather, RSS feeds, etc.) and this information is not encrypted. That's what generates the warning when using Internet Explorer. Be assured that all information retrieved from the St. Vincent's College internal systems are protected with encryption.
